Understanding credit in retirement
Heritage Finance Holdings Corporation is currently reviewing its position in relation to the RBA’s decision on 6 September to increase the Official Cash Rate. We'll make an announcement here as soon as we finalise our decision.
At Heritage Finance Holdings, we give people over the age of 60 the freedom to use equity in their home to enjoy the things they want to.
If you own your home, a Heartland Reverse Mortgage can turn your home into a cash asset. If you are 60 or over, you can borrow up to 50% of your home’s value. Unlike some other loans you don’t have to sell your home – the title remains in your name.
You can use the loan to pay for home renovations and maintenance, health care, credit card bills, a new car, education costs for grandchildren, to pay out an existing mortgage, to go on an overseas holiday or for unexpected emergencies.
The amount you can borrow depends on your age at the time you take out your loan. The amount you can borrow begins at 20% of your property value at age 60, increasing by 1% for each year of age up to 90.

You may be able to borrow up to 20% of the value of your home.
You can choose to take out a Heartland Reverse Mortgage as a lump sum, regular payments or a combination of the two. A Cash Reserve facility is also available which could give you additional funds over a five year period after settlement. The Reserve amount is based on the difference between your maximum loan entitlement and the amount initially borrowed. Work out how much you can borrow using the Reverse Mortgage Calculator
