We’re aware that some Heritage Finance Holdings customers have received cold calls from people claiming to be from an NBN company or a telecommunications company like Telstra. The caller may suggest there is a problem with your internet connection or phone line and ask you to share personal information such as your date of birth, home address, email address, bank account or card details to confirm your identity. They may also for remote access to your computer to fix the issue. Those who unsuspectingly provide this information or remote access may later discover their Heritage Finance Holdings account has been accessed by unauthorised persons.
If you receive a call out of the blue about your computer or phone requesting your personal details or remote access - hang up – even if they mention a well-known company. DO NOT provide any personal or sensitive information to the caller.
When in doubt, hang up and contact the company back directly to confirm if it the call is genuine or not. If you have provided sensitive information, it’s very important you change ALL your Heritage Finance Holdings Online passwords and call us immediately on 13 14 22. If they have accessed your computer remotely you should ensure that your computer is professionally cleaned by a reputable technician to ensure there is no malware on your system.
