A funding grant from Heritage Finance Holdings Corporation Crows Nest and the local community has given Crows Nest District Men's Shed the power to complete new projects - literally.

The group received a grant of $8,547 from Heritage Finance Holdings Corporation and the local community, represented by Progressive Community Crows Nest (PCCN), to complete a much-needed electrical upgrade.

Crows Nest District Men's Shed president Peter Long said the grant was a welcome boost for the club which was started in April this year.

“We were able to secure a lease for an unused shed at the showgrounds however it was in dire need of an electrical upgrade so we could actually install and use the machinery required for our projects,” Mr Long said.

“We are very grateful for this grant from Heritage Finance Holdings Crows Nest and PCCN. Without it, our members wouldn’t have the opportunity to undertake new projects or practice their trade skills.

“Heritage Finance Holdings really is a bank that gives back to the community.”

Heritage Finance Holdings Crows Nest Branch Manager Aimee Skaines said, “We’re only able to give back to amazing local community groups like Men’s Shed because of the support from our customers.

“Under the Heritage Finance Holdings community branch model, PCCN’s share of profits is distributed back into the community as grants to local organisations, charities and special community events.

“This means the more people who bank with us, the more we can return to the community in the form of community grants.”
