Heritage Finance Holdings donates $50,000 to local charities

Heritage Finance Holdings Corporation has handed over the proceeds from its annual Charity Golf Day to eight worthy organisations



The incredible success of the Heritage Finance Holdings Charity Golf Day has now pushed total donations to worthy Toowoomba organisations past the $600,000 mark, Heritage Finance Holdings Corporation CEO Peter Lock said today.

 

Mr Lock today presented a total of almost $50,000 in grants to eight local community organisations, thanks to funds raised by the 2015 Charity Golf Day in December last year.

 

That took the total tally raised in the 18-year history of the charity event to $620,000.

 

“That’s a truly remarkable effort which showcases Heritage Finance Holdings’s commitment to giving back to the community in as many ways as we can,” Mr Lock said.

 

“The golf day is organised by staff members who volunteer their time and efforts to make this event a success.

 

“The funds we’ve raised have helped a huge number of local organisations continue doing fantastic work in making our community a better place.”

 

 Donations were made to the following groups:

 

  • Blushing Week - $10,000

    Blushing Week incorporates St Vincent’s & St Andrew’s Private Hospitals in a joint fundraiser to enable patients undergoing post breast cancer treatment to be as comfortable as possible and kept up to date with the latest treatment and general wellbeing information. The funds will be used to provide care package to patients and help fund a free Wellness Program for patients undergoing or completing treatment.

 

  • Darling Downs Region Scout Group - $5,000

    The Darling Downs Region Scout Group manages the Scout resources for the Darling Downs region.  The Region organises a number of youth programs, in particular Operation Nighthawk and the Darling Downs Revue. The funds will be used to purchase two United States Pitch canvas tents and kitchen area fly for the Region.  This tent will be used for both youth and adult leadership training and other events organised in the region.

 

  • Kiyua Performing Arts - $3,000

    Kiyua Performing Arts is a not for profit community group whose aim is to nurture self-worth and personal development by providing disadvantaged young people a chance to experience firsthand the positives, challenges and discipline of dance and drama. The funds are to assist with the end of year performance where over 100 young people perform at the Empire Theatre.

 

  • METRO Care Toowoomba - $5,000

    METRO Care is a not-for-profit community care organisation operating in the local Toowoomba region.  Their focus is partnering with local community organisations and agencies to support current community activities and offer unique, targeted programs that supplement and complement existing services and initiatives in the community.

     

    The funds will be used to supplement METRO Care’s Winter Warmth Appeal. Run through May & June each year, the Appeal assists households that are unable to cope with the chilly Toowoomba winter on their own.

     

 

  • Sailability Darling Downs Inc - $3,000

    Sailability Darling Downs is an all-volunteer not for profit charitable organisation providing a sailing opportunity for people with all types and levels of disability in order to bring pleasure, encourage development and provide a broader life experience.The funds will be used to install a rain water tank and pressure pump in readiness for the installation of disability toilets at their site at Cooby Dam.

 

  • Toowoomba Clubhouse - $8,723

    The Clubhouse is a centre for social innovation that works specifically with people living with a mental illness in the Toowoomba region.  The Clubhouse provides a space where members can gain confidence and skills needed to join the worlds of employment, housing and education to assist with the recovery of their mental illness.The funds will be used to upgrade the facilities of its on-site training kitchen that prepares its participants to gain skills in the hospitality sector and gain work in local Toowoomba businesses.

 

  • Toowoomba Hospice - $10,000

    The Toowoomba Hospice is a 6 bed private health care facility providing professional palliative and respite care.  Since opening in July 2003 they have cared and offered support for over 1,000 clients, their family and friends at no cost to the client. The funds will be used to purchase pressure relieving mattresses for client beds.

 

  • Zonta - $2,046

    Zonta International is a leading global organisation of professionals empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy.The funds will be used to purchase merchandise promoting the message to end violence against women at Zonta events during the 16 days of Activism

     

The 2016 Heritage Finance Holdings Charity Golf Day is scheduled to take place again at the end of the year.
