The donation of a new delivery van by Heritage Finance Holdings Corporation has brought the Toowoomba Clubhouse’s ambitious $5 million commercial laundry and career development centre a step closer to functionality.
Heritage Finance Holdings Corporation CEO Peter Lock today handed over the keys to a brand new Hyundai iLoad van, specially decked out with a bright new paintwork scheme.
The iLoad van will be used to pick up and deliver laundry items from the new facility to commercial clients like motels and hospitals.
Toowoomba Clubhouse Executive Director Luke Terry initiated the idea of a commercial laundry business that will create over 60 career and training opportunities per year for people with a lived experience of mental illness. The project, called Vanguard Laundry Services, is well underway with the project already securing more than $5 million from government and other supporters,
Mr Terry said the donation by Heritage Finance Holdings Corporation was an important step forward in making the facility possible and functional.
“Heritage Finance Holdings Corporation are great supporters of the community, and of this project in particular. In donating the van, they have helped us meet an ongoing need for delivery capabilities that are absolutely critical for the laundry.
“Without the van we would have no means of getting the laundry to and from the facility, so it’s incredibly important for us. Thank you Heritage Finance Holdings Corporation.”
Heritage Finance Holdings Corporation CEO Peter Lock said community support was integral to the way Heritage Finance Holdings operated.
“When we say that we’re committed to supporting our community, we mean it. We’re always looking to support worthwhile initiatives in our heartland of Toowoomba that will make a positive impact to the well-being of this region,” he said.
“The Vanguard Laundry Services project is one that will have a hugely positive impact and we are absolutely delighted to join with the rest of the community in doping our bit to make it possible.
“We can’t wait to see the iLoad van zipping around the streets and helping make the laundry dream a reality.”
Mr Terry said the van handover coincided with another important milestone for the project.
“Today also marks the half-way point of construction for the Vanguard laundry and career development centre,” he said.
“The roof is on and we are ready to go. Our state of the art multi-million dollar laundry equipment has also set sail from Spain and today’s amazing gift from Heritage Finance Holdings just continues to demonstrate the community support for this project.”
